Cedar Fence Stain
Note: if this is a newly installed fence, it should be already clean. Step 1 – Clean Fence Mix the deck cleaner in the pail or deep pan per instructions on the package. Dip the broom into the solution and scrub the fence well to remove all the surface dirt. Use of the scrub brush is good for hard to reach areas.  Place the tarp over flower beds to protect from damage of the cleaning solution. With a strong spray, rinse the fence thoroughly. Reapply deck cleaner on any areas that still show dirt or surface debris. Step 2- Applying Stain Wear a protective covering or old clothes and rubber gloves during the application. Stain pigment is very difficult to wash out and will also stain your skin and can take a few days to wash out. First lay down the tarp on the ground before starting to apply stain. This will protect your lawn or flower beds. Make sure the stain is fully mixed to incorporate the pigment with the oil base. During the application process, the pigments can settle so mix occasionally during application to keep the pigment evenly distributed in the base. Make sure the stain is rated for outdoor use. With the use of the brush, apply an even coat of stain over the fence surface. Work in small areas to apply evenly before progressing to the next area. After you have completed staining the fence, the surface where started should be dry for second coat. Step 4 – Reapply If you want a darker color, you might want to apply a third coat. It is best for fence to have a natural color, so do not add too much stain to darken too deeply. If there are too many stain applications, the wood might saturate with the oil penetration and will not hold more additional stain. This will leave a wet stain covering that will rub off if touched.
Are Cedar Fence Boards Pressure Treated
Treated pine baseboards, often referred to as kick boards, allow the more vulnerable fence pickets to be raised 4-5” above the ground virtually eliminating damage to the pickets from moisture and line trimmers.

Notice how the wood becomes lighter as you spray. Stop spraying the area when there is no more color change. Move on to another fence section and repeat. Continue for the length of the fence and allow it to dry completely.
When To Seal New Cedar Fence
Spruce fence, often referred to as whitewood, is our least expensive option in wood fence. While not a “top of the line fence”, spruce offers a very affordable option for those on a tighter budget that still desire a privacy fence. The average life expectancy of a spruce fence is approximately 8-10 years.
How To Clean Cedar Fence
When you invest in a wood fence, deck, or pergola for your home, you should take the time to ensure that your outdoor project is protected. Staining your lumber every 3-5 years is crucial in order to protect, aesthetically enhance, and prolong the life of your investment. Wood will warp, rot, turn gray, and is susceptible to mildew, fungus, and insect infestation in the harsh Oklahoma climate if not treated properly. Staining your fence, pergola or deck will protect your backyard lumber from these problems as well as provide aesthetic appeal.
If you really want to keep the wood natural, transparent cedar fence stain penetration will be the spot for you. The product is relatively easy to apply; generally only one coat is needed. The product fades with time, and the resumption of the operation is simply washing the fence down and put on another layer. In relation to other types of stain, you will have to be maintained frequently transparent stain. You may have to recoat every one to three years, depending on exposure to sunlight. Note that the UV protection provided by the stain comes from the pigment. The darkest spot you choose, the longer you can expect it to last.

With many colors to choose from, TWP (Total Wood Protection) will preserve the wood’s natural color, will shed water longer, prevents mold/mildew, cracking, splitting, warping, and is easy to apply. TWP 1500 Series Exterior Wood and Deck Stain is a low 250 VOC formula that is compliant in 50 states. TWP is the only EPA registered wood preservative on the market.
Semitransparent cedar fence stain is another product of a single layer. The size of the pigment is slightly greater than in the transparent stain. As a result, the product still reveals the basic pattern of the wood grain, but they mask some of the finer features of the wood. Semitransparent stain should last between two and four years before it will need to be maintained.

Treated pine posts are commonly used as the standard post for spruce fences. We use cedar posts because treated pine has a tendency to change shape as it dries out. Warping, twisting, and splits are all characteristic of treated pine. This does not necessarily diminish its strength, but can effect its appearance. Treated pine is not under warranty for these appearance changes. If you prefer treated pine posts, we will be glad to provide them for you.

My wife and I just had Nathan install a fence. There was good number of trees and bushes to work around. Many of the other contractors were skeptical of the project or priced way out of the ballpark. Nathan was professional and confident in the work that could be done. They completed the job in a timely manner and did a terrific job. The crew worked very hard and conducted themselves extremely professionally. If you are looking for a fence contractor, Anchor Fence is the way to go.

Fence installers generally work outdoors at construction and remodeling sites, and their work consists of using measuring and marking devices to ensure that fences are placed according to design and property schematic drawings. After properly marking fence lines along the ground, the installer may dig for and place posts and secure them in the ground using cement or other compounds. Then, they connect the posts and apply any finishing paints or coatings. In some situations, fence installation may require additional measuring, especially with decorative boundaries being placed with wood fences and similar materials. Fence installers may need to use saws, hammers, and other tools of the trade to customize the length of individual fence pieces to conform with the needs of the property and terrain. Fence installation is a fairly labor-intensive job; installers may sometimes need to dig into hard or rocky earth to properly install posts. Therefore, candidates for the position should expect to spend a great deal of exertion in digging, as well as carrying materials and other labor activities. Education requirements for the position are not strict, but most dedicated fence companies and landscaping contractors prefer those who have prior experience in this type of work. Eberardo gave me a very fair price for my landscaping project. He drew up a written contract and went over every item with me before we signed it. He did a fabulous job, was on time both day’s, and stayed on budget and I got exactly what I wanted it to look like when he finished. This man has a great attitude and takes a lot of pride in his work. I have already had him look at my back yard around the pool and along two fence lines for the next project in September. He will be the man I hire for that large project.

Manny saved my renovation – and maybe my marriage! Hired Manny’s Painting Services to paint the downstairs of a Condo my wife and I just purchased. When I met him, I could tell he was the guy for the job! His bid was straight forward and fair and he could work with our short time frame. Well, as renovations often go, the small project of removing part of a wall grew with the addition of plumbing and electrical. I ran out of time and wasn’t able to get the Sheetrock up myself. I messaged Manny and he told me not to worry, he would get it handled – and he definitely did! I told Manny I would have the Sheetrock there for the guys by 9:30 Am. His guys were waiting at the house for me when I got back from Home Depot at 9:10! They unloaded the Sheetrock and asked for corner stripping, which o of course forgot. In the 25 minutes it took me to go to Home Depot and back, they had almost all the Sheetrock up. They filled in holes all over the house and made all the corners straight. Everything looked perfect and they even cleaned up after! Manny was on site for much of the job and made everything so easy. He told me they would be back the next day to paint (they needed to give the mud a day to dry). They guys were there early again the next day and wasted no time and got right to work! They knocked out the whole place (including a 20 foot tall stairway) in just a couple hours and everything was perfect! Manny came by soon after the job to make sure everything was perfect and it was! I can’t say enough about the work Manny and his guys did! True professionals!

I was stuck in an installation project with the water turned off, electrical wires exposed and it was black Friday at 4:30! I just knew I wouldn’t be able to find someone and Mike came to the rescue! Repaired the damaged line, finished the installation and stayed to be sure all was working well. As a single mother this was such a blessing to me to have a repair man come out so quickly and not charge me an arm and a leg. Thank you Mike!!
